3.5 Home-made Beefburgers and wedgie style chips

Burger and potato wedges

Ingredients

3 large potatoes
400g mince
Onion, finely chopped
½ tin lentils
Garlic clove
Thyme, chopped
Vegetables
2 sp Seasoning
2 sp cooking oil

Method

Cut the potatoes into wedges, place in an oven proof dish and massage 1sp of oil into them. Place them skin side down and cook in a hot oven for 35 minutes.

In the meantime, get a large mixing bowl and add the mince, onion, lentils, garlic, thyme and seasoning together.

Stir together then scoop out a quarter of the mix and form into a large burger shape. Make four burgers and set aside.

Heat up 1 sp of cooking oil in a frying pan and add the burgers to cook. Start off with the gas quite high to crisp off the meat, which helps to hold its shape. Turn over the burger and repeat the process on the other side and then turn the heat right down and allow the meat to cook slowly.

Prepare and cook the vegetables and then serve.

  1. had this tonight. I had salad instead of the peas and cabbage. and I have found the chips taste much nicer if they are parboiled before roasting. I also added some breadcrumbs and an egg to the burger mixture. Very nice.
