3.2 Tuesday - Toad in the Hole

Toad in the Hole


8 sausages
1 egg
10 sp flour
½ pint milk
Pinch of salt
Chopped thyme
Cooking Oil


Put a spoon of oil in the bottom of your oven proof dish and place in the oven to heat up.

Brown off the sausages in a pan to provide some colour for the dish – you don’t need to cook them at this stage – and do not use any cooking oil.

Mix together the egg, flour, milk, thyme and salt to make the batter.

Take out the oven proof dish and arrange the browned sausages in the dish, leaving equal spaces between each sausage.

Very carefully pour the batter around the sausages and return to the oven, cooking for about 40 minutes.

Prepare the vegetables and serve.
